Our Leadership

Chad Honl, Owner & ISA-Certified Arborist (PN-5537A)

Chad's passion for trees began in childhood and has shaped his entire career. As manager of Friends of Trees' Neighborhood Trees program from 2000 to 2005, he helped Portland communities plant and care for more than 8,000 street trees.

Chad's impact on Portland's urban forest is remarkable. He organized the city's first fruit tree giveaway in 1997, which has since distributed over 20,000 trees—earning him NPR's E-town award. He's created naturescapes in four Portland public schools and received the prestigious City of Portland Bill Naito Award in 2009 for his sustained dedication to Portland's urban forest.

Chad's extensive knowledge and genuine passion ensure you'll receive expert guidance on both caring for existing trees and selecting the perfect species for your landscape.

Isabel Toledo-Silvestre, Co-Owner & Office Manager

Originally from Spain, Isabel came to the United States for a three-month English immersion program—twenty-six years later, she's made Portland her home and can't imagine living without the Pacific Northwest's incredible tree canopy.

After a successful nursing career, Isabel joined Honl Tree Care in 2016 to spend more time with her children while contributing to the family business. She handles billing, payroll, and operations, bringing the same care and attention to detail that made her an excellent nurse. Isabel is always ready to help customers with questions or scheduling. ¡Gracias for choosing Honl Tree Care!
